JOB DESCRIPTION & PERSON SPECIFICATION
Position: Cafe Assistant
Responsible to: Cafe Manager
Salary: National minimum wage
Hours: 16-20 hours per week (12 month contract)
Holiday: 28 days a year pro rata inclusive of any public holidays
Purpose of Job
The main purpose is to deliver friendly, efficient customer service at the Mitchell Arts Centre, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere to all our customers.
This role includes the following duties:
To prepare, serve and sell food and drink and ensure a friendly, welcoming and
inclusive café atmosphere
Deliver excellent customer service, at all times.
Serve and present beverages, quickly and efficiently, meeting our standards.
Clearing tables and general cleaning of the café and box office area
Assist in keeping the bar, front-of-house and seating area clean and tidy at all
times , ensuring all crockery is washed and put away, tables are cleaned and the
area adheres to the Health and Safety regulations.
Prepare the pre-ordered drinks for interval drinks during evening performances.
Always adhere to all Mitchell Arts Centre policies and procedures and licensing
Inform the Café Manager of stock levels.
Complete daily job tick sheet and temperature checks
Using the box office system and selling tickets
General upkeep of all areas, inside and outside the building.
Cash Handling and card transactions including sales on the café bar.
Answering the phone and checking voicemails
Undertake other tasks as requested by the Duty Manager, Customer Services Manager or other Mitchell Arts Centre management. Provide cover as requested.

As we approach our busy season we are looking for enthusiastic individual to join our team of bar staff. Must be available evenings and weekends and be over 18. Experience is desirable but not essential.

Mitchell Arts centre runs a ‘Make & Bake’ session every week as well as delivering school holiday programme of activities. We are always on the look out for volunteers who can assist with developing events, ideas, assisting on the day, marketing and welcoming children and their families to the venue.
